A good read. What is the Mann Library exactly?
Mann Library is one of the libraries at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. . I worked there as a part time student assistant in my junior and senior years 1971-1973 while a student at Cornell and then was hired for various library jobs after graduating eventually retiring after 37 years. During my time there I started posting a daily haiku in our book stacks elevator which became somewhat popular and when the library was upgrading our library website in 2007 the director surprised me with her decision to feature the daily haiku on the home page. I have been featuring one poet for each month for almost 20 years now. That translates to over 200 poets having a full month of their haiku, senryu-little poems posted for their month day by day. One of the poets I featured suggested I also share the daily haiku on Facebook which I have been doing and then just a couple months ago I decided to share them through my WordPress site too. I had no idea this library feature would go on this long and never know how much longer it will be welcome but so far so good!
