Biographical information for Agnes Eva Savich


Agnes Eva Savich – author of “so many dandelions”, red moon press, 2025 – is a classically trained oboe player and haiku poet with over 700 haiku published in journals, anthologies, and contests. She has led guided haiku walks and presented at poetry conferences ranging from the Writing Arizona Immersive Haiku Workshop

Currently she serves as Treasurer on the board of directors of the biannual Haiku North America conference, is the Southwest Regional Coordinator for the Haiku Society of America, leads the Austin Haiku Study Group, and starting this fall will be the new Managing Editor of Frogpond, the pre-eminent journal of the Haiku Society of America. She has lived in Austin, Texas since 2004 but has been feeling the tantalizing pull of wanting to live abroad now that her kids are grown. She was recently a semi-finalist for a Fulbright Award to teach haiku in Belfast, however did not make it to the final round and is seeking other pathways. Immersing in nature and letting the landscape speak to her, noticing the beauty in little things, is vital to her haiku practice and her life as a creative person. She enjoys performing classical repertoire in the Starlight Symphony as well as wider genres of arrangements with her woodwind quintet, Perpetual Motion. She shares a home with her bassoon playing partner, where they host performance salon parties inspired by the 19th century. They feature works by their quintet and other local musicians, dancers, poets, mixologist comedians, and other talents in a fun, carousing environment where singers cluster around the piano to finish out the evening.
