design, Flat Iron Building, humor, Manhattan, New York City, passage, perspective, photography, poetry, sight seeing, skyscrapers, tanka, time, walking

once upon a time
the Flat Iron provided
the very best view…
falling behind my family
to take more photos

flat iron building... step by step to the side it flattens

flat iron building…
step by step to the side
it flattens

early summer breeze
plays the sun
across the forest ferns-
everything so nice
I hardly know what to do

creating a space
in himself
that can’t be filled
     – his lengthy ritual

the way water comes and goes on the beach

the way
water comes and goes
on the beach

Pushed by the wind
at the far end of the sky
a few clouds…
I can see that what I want
keeps changing too

fiery sky, fire, marriage, observing, ocean, photography, relationships, Rhode Island, Roger Wheeler State Beach, sunset, tanka, witness, writing

this heart to heart
only to  find
the mire of old territory
that no amount of revisiting
will ever resolve…

it had not looked like much but suddenly the fire of the sunset sky flares...

it had not looked
like much but suddenly
the fire of the sunset sky
flares…

ambivalence
I believe is what
I’ve come to, sitting here
watching wave after wave

all across the beach the stranded still life's of the day...

all across the beach
the stranded still life’s
of the day…

Avalon & Vanessa Avalon & Vanessa

Vanessa Morgan is an author, screenwriter, and blogger.

Two of her works, The Strangers Outside and A Good Man, have been turned into films. Her short film script Next to Her is currently in pre-production.

When she’s not working on her latest book, you can find her reading, watching horror movies, digging through flea markets, or photographing felines for her blog Traveling Cats (http://travelling-cats.blogspot.com). Avalon has appeared in several of her books and films.

My personal motto:

“Become your dream.”

“I work hard so my cat can have a better life.”  🙂

10 statements
  1. A typical work day begins with… checking my daily to-do list, and then tackling everything that’s on there one by one.
  2. I lose track of time… when I’m at a film…
